The Important Question: “WHAT IS RIGHT?”

The world in which we live is filled with religious confusion.  Differing groups with differing names teach differing doctrines, worshiping different ways all claiming to speak for the same God!  You can pick up the phone book and find churches listed from A to Z, all claiming to be workers for Christ.  In the midst of such overwhelming discord, the average “seeker” either walks away in disgust or rejoices in the “freedom of choice.”  In the meantime, the question is seldom asked: What is RIGHT?
First of all, our question implies that there is a “RIGHT”, a truth that holds all that contradicts it as error.  Many have been persuaded by the idea “Whatever you FEEL is right for YOU.”  In the popular mind, religion is purely subjective.  To condemn a religious belief as “wrong” is seen in many quarters as bigoted and hateful.  Such a point of view contradicts the teaching of Christ.  Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).  Jesus said His word, given through His Apostles to the world, is ALL TRUTH  (John 16:13).  It is this truth that  is the standard by which our conduct will be judged in the last day  (John 12:48).
Secondly our question implies that truth is UNDERSTANDABLE.  In John 18:37-38, Jesus told Pilate: “Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice.  Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth?”  In skepticism Pilate responded to Jesus’ appeal by implying that truth is too vague to be known.  That spirit is alive and well today.  When men say “We just cannot understand the Bible alike”, what they are really saying is “We cannot understand the Bible”.  There is a widespread feeling that the Bible is a book of  riddles,  impossible to solve.  While it is true that there are things we do not know about Almighty God, it is false to say that we cannot know what God has REVEALED to us in His word.  "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law”
(Deuteronomy 29:29).
If then the one truth is freely given to us in the Bible, why is there so much discord and division?  It is because we have failed to search God’s word with unbiased intensity needed to learn truth.  The Bible is not the source of our confused situation today, it is the IGNORANCE of the Bible and ABUSE of God’s Word that is the source of men’s problems.
Our plea is to let the Bible speak.  To commit ourselves to  bring a fair and unprejudiced mind into an open investigation of God’s Holy Word.  We invite your attention and your help as we explore the will of God.
In a world of religious confusion, where men seek what makes them “feel good”, what is “popular”, what fits “their tradition”, etc., we dare to ask the important question: What is RIGHT?
